The Bailiwick Club Announces Historic Pool Renovation Project to Begin September 2025

Greenwich, Connecticut (May 1, 2025) – The Bailiwick Club is embarking on the most ambitious renovation project in its 50-year history. Beginning in September 2025, the private club will break ground on a comprehensive improvement plan that includes the complete replacement of its original swimming pool, along with significant upgrades to outdoor dining and social areas. The Club has partnered with Greenwich Bank & Trust, a proud division of CT Community Bank, on the project.

This renovation marks the culmination of over five years of careful planning, reflecting the Club’s deep commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive and family-friendly environment. At the heart of the project is a brand-new, state-of-the-art swimming pool. Designed to support a wider range of aquatic activities—including water polo, scuba, and synchronized swimming—the new pool will also feature a deeper diving well while continuing to accommodate lap swimming and casual social use.

A new dining patio overlooking the pool will offer members the opportunity to eat and socialize while staying connected to poolside activity. This space will be separated from the pool deck, allowing for year-round use and expanded opportunities for hosting events such as outdoor movies, parties, and community gatherings. Additional features will include a fire pit, enhanced kitchen access for events, and rental availability for private functions.

The renovation will also include improved facilities for staff, such as a dedicated lifeguard locker room, a Director of Aquatics area, and an updated first aid station. Importantly, the entire project is being designed with enhanced ADA accessibility to ensure that all members can enjoy the Club’s amenities with ease.

The project will commence in September of 2025, with an estimated completion by May of 2026, in time for the next season’s opening. More details, including a grand opening celebration and new programming for the updated space, will be shared later this year.
