The award-winning Bailiwick Barracudas compete in the Fairfield County Swimming League along with 30 other clubs across the county. The league has been a staple to the local swim and diving communities and dates back to the 1940s!
Swimmers must be at least 6 years old and able to swim one pool length freestyle. No tryouts or practices are required, and all eligible swimmers and divers are encouraged to join for the short summer season. This is not a learn-to-swim program but a chance to improve skills, learn all four competitive strokes, and possibly compete in meets. Events include relays and individual races across age groups from 8-under to 17-under.

Swim Team Registration
Eligible swimmers must be at least 6 years old and able to complete one length of the pool freestyle. There are no tryouts or practice requirements, and we strongly urge all eligible swimmers and divers to join the team for the short summer season. This is not a learn-to-swim program, but rather a way for those who already know how to swim to learn all 4 competitive strokes and how to do a racing dive and perhaps compete in a meet! Below you will find information about the Barracuda practice and meet schedule, pre-team, participation fees and our team suit fitting. Our goals for the season are to improve our swimming skills in all 4 strokes, drop some time, get a taste of competition, make new friends and have fun!

Meet Our Coaches
Steve Miller, Head Coach
Coach Steve Miller is in his fifth season at Bailiwick, where he previously coached the Barracudas during the 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2024 seasons. Throughout the year, you can find him on deck as a member of the Greenwich YMCA Marlins coaching staff, primarily working with the Juniors (ages 10-13). Steve also coaches the Greenwich Academy Middle School team and, in the past, has coached summers at Innis Arden in Old Greenwich. Steve's coaching philosophy centers around the belief that swimming should be enjoyable, and he looks forward to sharing his passion for the sport with the Barracudas once again. As a former varsity record holder at Columbia University, specializing in the butterfly and middle-distance freestyle events, Steve continues to compete in Masters swimming. Notably, he has achieved as high as 3rd place at the Masters Nationals in the 100 butterfly and holds state of Connecticut records.

Payton Foster, Swim Coach
Coach Payton Foster is excited to be back at Bailiwick this summer. Payton just completed her freshman year at Harvard where she was an integral member of the Crimson Swim and Dive team competing in the 200 and 400 IM, backstroke and middle distance freestyle events. In 2024, she guided the Greenwich High School Cardinals to the State Championship, securing gold medals in the 200 Individual Medley and 500 freestyle. Payton has also swam for the Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and the Greenwich YWCA Dolphins.
Coach Payton can be reached at pafoster24@me.com.
Ellie Scharff, Swim Coach
Dive Coach Ellie Scharff returns to Bailiwick for her second season after completing her freshman year at Boston University. She is excited about continuing the momentum our dive group built last season; more and more athletes tried their skills on the board as the season progressed. With four years of experience competing on the Greenwich High School Swim and Dive team, as well as eight years with the Greenwich YMCA Marlins, Ellie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our diving program. Her summers spent competing with Millbrook Club in the FCSL league have also helped shape her into the talented coach she is today. Ellie's favorite dive, the back dive in pike position, showcases her skill and love for the sport.
